Librarius is a community for readers. It is where paper books circulate again and readers in the same city meet through clubs, events, and swaps. It is a free app for iOS and Android, and also a public website where you can browse the catalog, profiles, book pages, clubs, events, and listings without creating an account.

It is for anyone who wants a place for their books that is not a spreadsheet or a network that hides everything behind a login. It is also for reading clubs that need a shared reference and public visibility, and for people who organize literary events or sell and swap used books.

The product has six surfaces that work together: the personal library and book pages; the community (posts, quotes, stories, and reviews); reading clubs; literary events with a map; a marketplace for selling and swapping; and discovery (search, daily picks, book trivia, and a recommender).

There is no subscription. You download the app and use it for free. On the website you browse; joining a club, posting, messaging, or listing a book happens in the app.

It is not only a mobile app, and it is not a catalog that stops at star ratings. It is not Goodreads under another name: it is built around clubs, in-person meetups, and exchanging books, in Spanish, English, and Portuguese.

Who is Librarius for?

Librarius is for paper-book readers who want titles to keep moving: people who swap or sell nearby, who want public club pages, and who host literary meetups in their city.

It also fits if you track reading lists and progress and want more than a spreadsheet with no real people attached. You do not need a huge following: showing up to read together or free shelf space is enough.

If you only want star ratings with no clubs or swaps, simpler tools exist. Librarius puts community, in-person meetups, and reader-to-reader swaps first.

What is Librarius not?

It is not an online bookstore that ships books or a marketplace with its own logistics. Librarius does not take a cut of every swap: people agree on price, place, and delivery in the app.

It is not a catalog locked behind login: the public site shows indexable books, clubs, and events. It does not replace a local bookstore or guarantee an instant buyer on your block.

It does not auto-read books or publish AI summaries of every title: the focus is habits, clubs, reader-written reviews, and tools to organize your personal library.

How do book swaps work on Librarius?

You mark a book from your library as available to sell or swap, describe its condition using the in-app scale, and optionally suggest a price. Other readers message you to propose a swap or an in-person purchase.

The deal is between people: Librarius does not hold payments or ship parcels. Most readers meet in a public place or another spot you both choose, as described in the safety guides on the blog.

Swaps often start in a book club or at a swap-themed event created in the app.

Is it safe to swap books with strangers?

No app removes all risk from meeting in person, but Librarius adds context: public profiles, in-app chat, reports, and responsible-use rules. Meet in busy places, tell someone you trust, and inspect the book before you finish the swap.

If something feels wrong (misleading price, harassment, no-show), you can report the user and contact support from the app. Avoid sharing bank details in chat with someone you do not know.

How is it different from Goodreads, a WhatsApp group, or Meetup?

Goodreads and similar apps focus on tracking and global reviews; Librarius adds clubs with walls, mapped events, a used-book marketplace, and chat without relying on a general social network.

A WhatsApp group works for quick pings but loses structure: no club page, shared reading history, or public discovery for new members. Librarius keeps chat while the club stays visible to readers searching nearby.

Meetup helps publish generic events; Librarius is built for concrete literary formats (silent reading, blind date with a book, readathons) and links each event to books, clubs, and reader profiles.
