Librarius Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 27, 2026
Librarius is a community for readers. Your account, personal library, content you create, chat, events, clubs, and marketplace are managed primarily in the mobile app. The website librarius.app provides marketing information, public content (profiles, listings, reading), blog, FAQ, and these legal pages. This policy explains what data we process, for what purpose, and what rights you have, both in the app and on the web.
1. Data controller
The controller of the personal data obtained through Librarius is the operator of the Librarius service, reachable at:
librarius1.app@gmail.com
To exercise your rights or ask privacy questions, please write from the email linked to your account when possible so we can verify your identity securely.
2. Data we may collect
Depending on how you use Librarius, we may process:
- Account and profile: Account identifier, name or nickname, email, profile photo or other fields you choose to fill in (e.g. country, date of birth if you provide it), and sign-in information. Access is normally via a verification code sent by email or third-party identity providers (e.g. Google or Apple), not a Librarius-owned password.
- Library and reading: Books you add, reading status, lists, ratings, notes, or progress you log in the app.
- Social content: Posts, comments, stories, writings, reviews, or other content you share, subject to the visibility you configure. If you mark content as intended for adults, that flag is part of the content metadata.
- Messages: Content of private conversations between users (including images if you send them). Messaging may rely on technology providers’ infrastructure (e.g. cloud messaging services) acting as processors where appropriate.
- Events and groups: Data you create or join (titles, dates, descriptions, participation, prices or payment information that is merely informative if you publish it), and, if the app allows it, approximate location or reading meetup details.
- Marketplace or listings: Information relating to book listings, swaps, or sales between users that you publish or manage. Librarius does not process payments between users; agreements and payment are handled off-platform.
- Interactions with AI features: Inputs you send to artificial-intelligence-assisted features (e.g. recommendations, trivia, or helper text) and associated outputs, to the extent needed to provide that feature.
- Notifications: Device identifiers or tokens to send you push notifications about activity, messages, or events, if you enable them.
- Technical and usage data: IP address, device type, operating system, service logs, error diagnostics, and, if implemented, usage statistics (e.g. in-app or web analytics, subject to your consent when required).
3. Purposes
We process data to:
- Provide the service: account, library, community, chat, and related features.
- Show your profile and content to other users according to app settings and rules.
- Manage events, groups, notifications, and notices related to your activity.
- Facilitate marketplace or peer-to-peer transactions within the platform rules (without intermediating payments).
- Offer AI-assisted features and improve reading-related recommendations or content.
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, spam, or fraud, and enforce violations (including basic content filtering).
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
- Improve service stability and performance (including technical diagnostics and, on an appropriate legal basis, analytics).
4. Legal basis
- Performance of a contract / pre-contractual measures: to operate your account and the features you request.
- Consent: where required (e.g. optional notifications, non-essential cookies or analytics on the web or app, or other features we request explicitly).
- Legitimate interests: platform security, service improvement, and abuse prevention, where your rights and freedoms do not override those interests.
- Legal obligation: where the law requires us to retain or disclose certain information.
5. Recipients and processors
We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with:
- Other users: as designed in the product (public profile, posts, group participation, messages you send to recipients, etc.).
- Technology providers: hosting, database, authentication, email delivery, messaging, push notifications, analytics, support tools, or artificial-intelligence model providers, acting as processors where appropriate with contractual safeguards.
- Authorities: if required by law or a valid court order.
Some providers may be outside the European Economic Area; in those cases we will use mechanisms recognised under applicable law (e.g. standard contractual clauses) when required.
6. Artificial intelligence
Some Service features use artificial-intelligence systems (our own or third-party) to help with recommendations, games or trivia, classification or generation of book-related text, or other product aids. We may also generate or publish sample or community-engagement content through automated accounts or processes.
When you send data to an AI feature, we may transmit to model providers the minimum information needed to obtain the response. We do not sell your data to those providers. Use of each feature is voluntary unless it is inseparable from a utility you enable.
8. Retention
We keep data while your account is active and for any additional period required by law or to resolve incidents. If you delete your account from the app or request it from us, we will erase or anonymise personal data unless we must retain it for legal reasons or limited legitimate interests (e.g. security logs for a reasonable period).
9. Your rights
If EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR) and applicable Spanish law apply, you may exercise the rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing, data portability (where applicable), and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
You may also lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es).
Requests: librarius1.app@gmail.com
10. Security
We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures (encryption in transit where appropriate, access controls, authentication) to protect information. No system is 100% secure; if you notice an issue, contact us immediately.
11. Location (optional)
Only if the app requests access to your location (for example to suggest reading events, nearby searches, or nearby marketplace), we will use that data according to the permission you grant in the operating system. On listings or profiles we may show approximate location. You can revoke permission at any time in device settings; some features may no longer be available.
12. Minors
Librarius is not directed at anyone under 18, as stated in the Terms. By registering you declare that you meet that age. If you believe a minor has provided us with data, please contact us so we can take appropriate steps.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy; we will publish the current version on the web and, if the change is material, notify you by reasonable means (e.g. in-app notice or email).
14. Governing law
Where not governed by EU data protection law, this policy shall be interpreted in accordance with Spanish law. For disputes arising from processing, the courts of Spain shall have jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections that may apply to you.
