Reading
Tracking reading progress: why it helps (without obsession)

Noting where you are going is not micromanagement: it is an anchor when you alternate between several books or when you leave a novel for three weeks due to work or travel.
Less percentage, more context
A percentage or a chapter is useful if it helps you reengage. If it stresses you out, a one-line note is enough: “plot twist chapter 12.”
Leaving also counts
Marking that you left a book is not failure: it is information. It prevents you from retrying the same thing without desire and frees up mental space for another reading.
