Organize your personal library with a simple method

Published on

Organizing does not mean cataloging each issue obsessively: it means being able to answer in seconds what you are reading and what you would like to read next.

Three states are enough to start

  • Pending: purchased or recommended, not yet opened.
  • In progress: what you play this week or this month.
  • Read: closed with approximate date or brief note.

Thematic lists

Create small and useful lists: “Awards”, “Summer”, “Essential authors”. Avoid giant lists that no one checks.

Quarterly Review

Every few months, clear unrealistic pendings and move at least one book from “want” to “in progress.” The foundation of the habit is honesty with your available time.
